Spread the Love National Campaign Launches 2009-2010 Pledge Drive
National campaign to raise awareness and funds to support film WHY, and Local charity addressing issues of Domestic Violence and Partner Abuse
(New York, NY) November 16, 2009 – This past week Way Out Productions launched it’s 2009-2010 SPREAD THE LOVE national campaign with a 14 week donation and pledge drive.
The mission of the SPREAD THE LOVE national campaign is to create more awareness on issues of Domestic Violence and Partner Abuse in the LGBT community.
“Most of us have been exposed to or know someone who has suffered from domestic violence. With this campaign, we are focusing to bring more attention, raise better awareness and funding that supports this important cause that is dear to my heart having been an abusive relationship previously,” explains Joe Mode, CEO/President at Way Out Productions.
The pledge drive is taking place at various venues and events throughout the city of New York between November 9, 2009 and February 10, 2010. Each pledge and donation drive is expected to draw huge financial support towards funding the efforts of the SPREAD THE LOVE campaign. In some cases, celebrities will be on hand to host a fundraising event. To be abreast of the next venue, please visit the Way Out Events section on www.wayoutworld.org.
“We just had our first event last week at Bamboo 52 and we have already generated close to $1,000 in pledge support. This week, we hope to double those efforts when we bring the campaign to Splash Bar (50 W 17th St.) this coming Thursday from 5:30-7:30pm,” adds Joe.
The money that is raised from donations, the various pledge drives and from the walk-a-thon itself will help fund the film, “Why”, which documents the fictional life of one domestic abuse case and the choices that the lead character faces as they contemplate making a powerful decision to leave an abusive relationship. Funds raised will also be donated to local charity, NYC Anti-Violence Project, which has led this important movement to eliminate domestic violence in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and HIV-affected communities.
